Publication: Validation Paper FaceReader 6 in JNPE

The Journal of Neuroscience, Psychology and Economics has accepted the validation paper of FaceReader 6. This paper compared the performance of FaceReader 6 to the performance of human coders on the Facial Action Coding System (FACS).

The results show that FaceReader 6 reached an .67 average on the FACS index of agreement which is comparable to the performance of human coders, who need to reach an agreement of .70 in order to obtain a FACS certificate. This means that FaceReader has proven to be a reliable indicator of basic emotions in the past decade and has a potential to become similarly robust with FACS.
