On a rainy dutch Monday, VicarVision took part as a demo presenter at Neurovation 2014. At its heart, the conference brought together experts on Brain and Cognitive Science to discuss current trends in their research and, most importantly, the evolution of the tools they are using to better assist their work.

VicarVision had the opportunity to present its most recent version of its Facial Expression recognition technology, FaceReader 6, as well as a first display of its Remote PhotoPlethysmography Technology (RPPG) tool to estimate a person’s heart rate. Altogether, the researchers attending were quite interested in the technological solutions VicarVision can offer in the following areas:

  – Identifying spaces and objects to use to assist blind people

  – Using our FaceReader to:

      – distinguish between genuine and faked pain

      – detect early signs of Parkinson’s disease

      – detect fatigue while driving

      – develop a method to automatically code the face of a chimpanzee based on ChimFACS (2006)

Neurovation was very good in sparking possible partnerships with researchers from Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and the United States of America.
